1. TO MARS

CHORUS: To Mars! To Mars! We're off to Mars today It's just one world away, he's calling out our name To Mars! To Mars! We're going there to stay When we're on Mars we'll be halfway to the stars

VERSES: The Martian sky is rosy like your heart Be brave my dear when my rocket plane departs I shall return to take you back with me And then we'll raise our Martian family

I have returned to take you back with me It's 8 months out in 1/3 gravity Remember this, such a long awaited day We're on to Mars and we're going there to stay

Longer days and lighter on our feet Now we are Martians and we are truly free Our children will have only Martian memories Of building a nation, of camaraderie

We're pioneers and we're living off the land A whole new world we are building with our hands Our air and fuel from the Martian atmosphere All we needed was waiting for us here

2. RED DREAMS

-Lyrics by Peter Diamandis
-Music by Elaine Walker

Blood red, a drop in a black, black sky It fills my waking dreams Metal I have touched, has touhed its land Now my soul lives there I am a pioneer and I crave the frontier Waking to struggles, sleeping to exhaustion

Red lands, barren seas, a planet to explore A home to build, a race to create I am a pioneer and this is what I crave

Red dreams fill my eyes as rockets grow on towers of flame up, up towards my home I touch the distant land that calls my name

CHORUS: It's time, time to go Now, not later... To Mars, to Mars Land of my children's children It's time, time to go Now, not later... To Mars, to Mars Home of my heart and mind

We are the Adam and Eve The first to inject life here Ours is the will to survive We water our dreams with passion And pluck the fruit of success

Red lands colored green, with the blood of our souls A home to build, a race to create I am a pioneer and this is what I crave

3. DEVON ISLAND

-written for the Haughton Mars Project

At midnight under a rain-lashed sky A modest crew set sail for the arctic passage Chasing the ghost of a boyhood hero 60 years after that tragic voyage

All hands died on two glorious ships They vanished in the arctic wilderness They had brought with them their home environment And they never knew what the arctic offered to them

CHORUS:
Devon Island, I will live off your land And you can show us how to conquer a new world Devon Island, help us be all we can Help us on to Mars

Amudsen learned to live off the land He mimicked how the Eskimo lived His small crew of six embraced the wilderness And forced the Northwest Passage

Now we have an extraordinary chance To show that we are future Martians With a brave crew of six, we'll embrace the wilderness Of the arctic Devon Island

CHORUS:
Devon Island, I will live of your land And you can show us how to conquer a new world Devon Island, help us to understand Help us on to Mars!

4. NEW WORLD (instrumental)

5. FROM EARTH TO MARS
-Lyrics by Kevin Leclaire -Music by Elaine Walker

I blink a hundred-fold recurrance Hiccups through my survival algorithm

My shrink-wrapped world hurdles through space At twenty times the speed of sound Away from your Doppler-shifted calls

Kiss me and make it real my love I'll never leave you again Kiss me and restore my circulation

No pretending God ties me to you Only valiantly striving electrochemical reactions

Fight to keep you with me in my thoughts Every surging ounce I need to survive Is a swallow denied my thirsting memory

The warror god's rusty surface Beckons me to where no human has gone From Earth to Mars I see and am struck dumb with wonder As I speed on From Earth to Mars

A hundred levels displaced of fading memories Time eternal creeping by as I speed onward

6. MARTIAN NATION

Holding gloves and bouncing along
So happy in our Martian Nation
Joining eyes through plastic orbs
Whisper love through ventilation

Mars is beckoning, Mars is in my dreams
We're living in a bubble called Earth
And we know it and our blood is flowing

CHORUS
We live and work in a Mars base station
We walk in 1/3 gravity
We have built a Martian Nation
The human race has been set free

We'll wear our matching pressure sets
I'll put on my fashion helmet
So beautiful
Gazing at the Martian sunset

7. HUMANS AND MARTIAN MACHINES (instrumental)

8. MARTIAN MAN

You're a meteorite hunter in the Arctic land.
You're a helicopter hero, you're a Martian man.
You've created a place you call Mars on Earth
On a beautiful desert island.

CHORUS:
Pascal Lee, you'll go down in history. I want you to know.
You will teach us how to live on Mars, and we want to go.
You're a natural Martian Man, you just have it.
You're already there in spirit.

You wake them up at 8AM with my Martian song
And they're all going to hate me when the day is done
But you have them all inspired and you organize your crew
You're a natural leader, they look up to you.

You drive your ATV's and you study the terrain
Traversing the ancient rocky plain
Ordovincian stromatolites are fossilized
You teach us how to search for Martian life.

They load up the twin otter and they fly from Resolute.
And they drop off the cargo on a parachute.
And it lands on Devon Island where you gather your supplies.
And you look all around you and you're mesmerized.

Haughton crater is bathed in sunlight, finally a blue sky.
Everything has come together in your Martian eyes.
Zubrin is a legend but you're a hero.
Tell us all about it in Toronto.
You're a natural Martian Man, you just have it.
You're already there in spirit.

9. JOHN CARSON

One day I was in the airport reading a space magazine.
Then I met a special person, he sat down right next to me.
He said his name was John Carson, and I asked how old was he.
John said he was nine years old and then he saw my magazine.
He said, "Do you like space? Because I really do."
I said, "Yes I like space. I really like it too.
And then he looked me in the eye, and what he said was all too wise.

He said, "In 2011 I'll be 20, and I will be an astronaut.
Between now and then I must learn plenty. I want to be the first on Mars.
In 2011 I will land on Mars. The very first human to venture out so far.
And I will not be scared, 'cause I will be prepared."

John Carson, I sure hope that you know something that I don't.
We'll need a fearless president and you're not old enough to vote.
It's been 30 years since we've sent humans to the Moon.
And there's no glaring evidence that Mars is coming soon.
In 2011 we may not be so wise. Even the spacers are not all allies.
So you may not get to go. But please don't lose your hope.

John Carson looked at me, determined were his eyes.
After what he told me I'm convinced that he will fly.
He said, "In 2011 we'll finally show our grace.
There is no question I'll venture out to space.
And I will pave the way for the children of my day."

Well, I've just heard a mouthful from this special little boy.
John Carson set me straight and filled my heart with joy.
They'll pack him in a tuna can and send him off to Mars.
And one by one we'll follow him and reach out for the stars.
In 2011 John will seize the day. He'll be landing on the Martian plain.
And now I'm filled with hope, all from a nine year old.

I've met a future Martian. His name is John Carson.
