MARTIANS (2006)
$11.99 1. Martians (watch the
video!)
|
About ZIA
See ZIA's biography | ZIA's myspace | ZIA's official website About Martians Martians was officially released in October, 2006 at the XPrize Cup in Las Cruces, NM. Elaine was a fan of the XPrize since 1996, and it is a fantastic coincidence that her home town of Las Cruces would become the location for the yearly XPrize Cup events and Spaceport America! Martians marks the end of an era for ZIA, the time spent on the East Coast. In 2003 Elaine was commissioned by the NASA Haughton-Mars Project to film a music video on Devon Island in the Canadian High Arctic, 75 degrees North. This video for the title track has the mission of inspiring the dream of humans living on Mars. The rest of the album is split between more positive spacey messages and songs about loves lost. Plenty of hard-earned emotion is packed into this CD which is unusual for ZIA. |

BIG BANG! (2000)
$11.99 1. Golden (19 tet)
|
About Big Bang Most of ZIA's live show consists of material from Big Bang, and it if you do not yet own a ZIA CD, buy this one first! The title track is about the grand comsic event, the Big Bang, from which we were born. Golden and Nibiru were strongly inspired by Zecharia Sitchin's book The 12th Planet. This CD goes beyond Elaine's love for cold technology and outer space, with some slightly more down to Earth songs, emotionally inspired during Elaine's married years. |

SHEM EP
1995 Young American 1996 Fifth Colvmn $8.99 1. Space Multimedia
|
About SHEM
SHEM was released by Young American Records in Boston in 1995, supporting ZIA's first tour of the North Eastern states. Young American shared resources and personell with Boston's popular Performer Magazine. When the magazine had a hostile takeover by one of the investors, Young American lost their office space and other resources and went out of business. ZIA got picked up by Fifth Colvmn Records in DC, run by Jared from Chem Lab. ZIA went on a second tour of the South Eastern states in 1996. Fifth Colvmn was eventually dropped by Caroline and went out of business. SHEM's lyrical content was strongly inspired by Zecharia Sitchin's book The 12th Planet. Hand Held is ZIA's first hint at a love song, about a video character wanting to feel a human touch. Disevolve was inspired by the book Neuromancer. River pokes fun of both liberals and conservatives alike. The more raw, funky sound of SHEM was inspired by the popular Grunge/Metal band Cobalt 60 because Elaine was soon to be married to the guitarist, Dan Mullen. |

ZIA v1.5 (1994)
$11.99 1. Mother (19 tet)
|
About ZIAv1.5:
ZIAv1.5 was a self release, first available on cassette in 1992 with just a handful of the songs. This version was called ZIAv1.0. When Elaine added more songs or re-mastered a song ZIA would release a new version. ZIAv1.1 and ZIAv1.2 through 1.4 followed. People who had bought the cassette could simply return the cassette and a new upgrade would be sent for only the cost of shipping. This was a gimmick designed to emulate software upgrades. The final upgrade was to a CD, offered at a discounted price. ZIA v1.5 is inspired by transhumanism, space exploration and other futurist themes. There is also a strong environmentalist theme throughout with Mother and New Way referring indirectly to Mother Earth, The Building and Reconstruction alluding to temporary buildings and toxic waste. Agribusiness was inspired by Elaine's newfound vegetarianism, Space-Time and Disevolve inspired by the book Neuromancer and transhuminist ideas. Sol was inspired by Sun Diver and Pagan Goddess by Earth, both books by David Brin. Animal was inspired by events at Tiananmen Square in 1989, and Stick Men refers to the clash of Native Americans and the white men which they called "stick men" because they used sticks to mark off territory for agriculture. |

DISEVOLUTION EP (1998)
(Remixes of Disevolve) $6.99 1. Disevolve (19 tet) |
About Disevolution
The original version of Disevolve can be found on rare copies of ZIAv1.0 - 1.5, however, this song was eventually removed from the final version of ZIAv1.5. A newer version of Disevolve is on the EP SHEM. Disevolve was the last of the "screaming songs". With industrial, IDM and goth influences, these quality remixes of Disevolve should not be overlooked! |

D.D.T.
Discomedia (1993 Lovely Flankers) $11.99 1. Evolution (10 tet)
|
About D.D.T. D.D.T. was a hardcore aggro-industrial electronic act that was together in Boston from the late 1980's until the mid 1990's. Noel McKenna did drum programming and vocals, Lisa Sirois did (8 bit!) samples and some vocals, and Elaine Walker (who joined in late 1991) did synth programming. Note that every song is micro/macrotonal except Blessed. This adds a futuristic and other-worldly edge to the music. Elaine joined D.D.T. at the same time she was forming ZIA. The first ZIA lineup consisted of Noel McKenna and Lisa Sirois of D.D.T. Where are they now? Noel is now a Buddhist Monk in upstate New York and Lisa is "DJ Goldilox" in San Francisco. |
